Apple Updates List of Cities and Countries Covered by Maps Services none

Unlike Google, Apple rarely communicates about the changes to Plans, between two launches of a large version of iOS. Proof again with the significant update of the web page which lists the iOSiPadOS services available according to cities and countries (the French version is not yet up to date).

Two large sections have been added. One is for “Look Around”, the equivalent of Google Street View. There are now 10 American cities that can be explored with a 360 ° photographic vision: Boston, Chicago, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York, Oahu, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Washington. It’s good, but it’s still tiny, when Apple unveiled this new presentation just a year ago.

The other new section is for the display of public transport timetables in real time, instead of a fixed grid. It is a presentation which had also been announced at the time of iOS 13. Its deployment goes a little in all directions since this service is used everywhere in Canada, in the Netherlands, in Sweden but it is more random in the United United and in only a few cities in the United States, Australia and China.

Real-time display in Canada

In the “Nearby” section, which lists points of interest around an address, several countries have been added, including Belgium, which officially joins France and Switzerland.

As for the speed limit indicator in Plans, it is progressing at a snail’s pace. China and Japan were entered, reinforcing the starting trio which included the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada.

Finally, we note that France has officially entered the ranks of the countries that have public transport displays. In fact, it goes back to February. Either it is a late update, or Apple has completed this referencing, because at launch some readers pointed out that the lines of their city did not appear yet.
